Surat Shabd Yoga - Meditation Practice

'Surat' means attention. 'Shabd' means sound current or audible life stream. 'Yoga' means union.

'Surat Shabd Yoga' or 'Yoga of the Sound Current' is a form of meditation, by practice of which one can investigate the self and the nature of consciousness. In present times, it has been called the 'El Camino Royale' or 'The Royal Road' of meditation. Dr. Ishwar Puri acquired learnings of this unique form of meditation from his mentor, Great Master Hazur Maharaj Baba Sawan Singh Ji and established the CISHA organization as a means of disseminating learnings and informative materials related to 'Surat Shabd Yoga' and the science of self discovery.

There are many different types of yoga that can be employed to get knowledge of one's own self. However, most forms of yoga tend to be more aggressive as opposed to being a gentle way to discover yourself.

"The Surat Shabd Yoga, the yoga of the attention contacting the sound and travelling to its own reality, is a yoga of tranquility, peace, and effortlessness." - Dr. Ishwar Puri

Regular practice of this form of yoga can help withdraw the attention from one's body, thoughts and desires to achieve union with ones' own totality. This form of yoga is practiced by placing one's attention on the sound current emanating from the soul.
